"High in the mountains of Mexico is a city of courtyards, cobblestones, and secrets waiting to be revealed. A city where one visit can change your life. San Miguel can seem almost unbearably beautiful. The churches whose roof tiles curl like the wings of fallen angels, the houses whose colors are pulled from the Earth¹s core-lava reds and sulfurous ochres."

Bienvenidos / Welcome
San Miguel de Allende is a colonial jewel that lies in the very heart of Mexico. It is historically important and filled with bohemian arts and culture that have made it home to artists, designers, writers photographers and architects. The renowned muralist Siqueiros came in the 50's followed by others who established art programs of international fame. The unique colonial architecture, Moorish influences, colors, textures and quality of light draw people from all over the world.
-The Visual and Performing Arts program in San Miguel de Allende began in the summer of 2005 and runs every summer in mid July to August. We are sure that you will be inspired and your creativity will be fueled by exploring this magnificent town, which comes to life through its unique flair of open markets, art galleries and live performances.
Each day the visual arts class will convene at the Vista Real Hotel, uniquely situated at a panoramic position above the town then we will take to the cobblestone streets to complete a visual journal and visit studios. July and August plays host to a myriad of evening events including an international film festival, gallery openings, art exhibitions, live music, dance and theatre. Students will complete a handmade book that will be exhibited in a special opening in San Miguel de Allende.
-The dance class will be housed a unique performance space called El Recreo. Together we will explore the open markets, art galleries, and live performances throughout San Miguel. At the end of our journey we will create a dance piece reflective of all our personal experiences, culminating in a public performance at the end of the workshop. Students who wish to opt out of the performance section, can chose an international enrichment, Independent Study. Students will create a topic you which to research and in Lieu of a performance you may create a personal journal. I hope you will join me for this amazing experience, and let us dance together!
